Peggy S. Henley
October 13, 1937 – October 22, 2024
Peggy "Peg" S. Henley, aged 87, passed away on October 22, 2024, at Palomar Hospital in Escondido, California. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 13, 1937, Peggy was the daughter of Allen A. Brewer and Ella Mae "Maise" Miller. At age five, after her mother remarried, Peggy was adopted by her stepfather, Herman A. Stamer, and took his last name.
Peggy grew up in Chicago and later in McHenry, Illinois, where she graduated from McHenry High School. She went on to study at the University of Illinois, where she earned a degree in mathematics and was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. During her time at the University, she was also active in the Episcopal Canterbury Club, reflecting her lifelong dedication to her faith. It was there that she met fellow student Robert Henley. They married on July 16, 1960, beginning a beautiful partnership that would last more than six decades.
Known for her devotion to family, Peg was a loving mother, raising her children as a dedicated stay-at-home mom. She had an innate talent for bringing joy to her household—whether it was by preparing the perfect meal, planning costumes, or diving into arts and crafts. Though she modestly claimed she was simply good at following directions for recipes and patterns, her family knew she was a true artist at heart, putting care and creativity into everything she made.
Peg’s flawless penmanship led to an interest in the art of calligraphy. Possessing a natural talent with pen and ink, she initially picked up calligraphy as a hobby, but her remarkable skill quickly led her to turn it into a small business called Forget Me Not Calligraphy. Peggy created beautiful, personalized documents, wedding invitations, and personal remembrances. Clients from across the country sought her talents to memorialize their most special occasions. With each custom calligraphy project—from letters to wedding envelopes to invitations—Peggy set her mind to perfection, and the results were always a testament to her dedication and precision.
Her faith was an important part of her life, and Peg was a devoted member of Christ Church in Winnetka, Illinois, and later St. Michael's Church in Sacramento, California, after the family moved west in 1978. While she attended church weekly, she cherished holiday services and enjoyed volunteering for various church causes, lending her time and talent to support her community.
Peg was an enthusiastic supporter of the Sacramento Symphony Orchestra Association, including a term as president of the association’s Guild.
She found her deepest fulfillment through nurturing her family. She cherished the time she spent baking with her grandchildren and playing with her great-grandchildren—a joy that continued as her family grew. Her thoughtfulness extended into the holidays, when she would make each occasion special with handmade or handpicked gifts and surprises for loved ones. Family and friends especially looked forward to her famous holiday fudge recipe.
While living in Winnetka, Peg was a talented figure skater, but her favorite hobby was golf. She enjoyed the sport as a way to spend time with family and make new friends. As members of Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento, she and Bob shared many rounds together, continuing a family tradition started by her mother, Maise, an avid golfer. Peg especially looked forward to the annual mother-daughter tournament she and her mother Maise played each year. Once Peg’s mom passed, she joined forces with her daughter Susan to continue the tradition.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Robert; her children, William (Susan) Henley, Betsy (Peter) Kusyk, and Susan (Chuck) Duffy; grandchildren Megan (Sean) Mannion, Molly Lopez, and Samantha, Cooper, and Ryan Duffy; and great-grandchildren Sawyer, Lennon, and Tatum Mannion. She also leaves behind her brothers, William (Roxanne) Stamer and Jesse Stamer; half-siblings Margaret, Slade, Jane, Elizabeth, and Mary Brewer; along with a loving circle of friends and family who will forever cherish her memory. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and her younger sister, Cara Lynn.
A memorial service to celebrate Peggy’s life will be held at a future date.

After a lengthy battle with MDS/Acute Leukemias Eric Elliot King succumbed to his disease on May 1, 2024. It is fitting the he passed on “May Day”, because of his love for the outdoors and beautiful scenery. Eric was just days away from beginning a bone marrow transplant to hopefully cure his condition however, his body just wasn’t cooperating. Eric was able to choose his destiny and decided to stop all treatment and continue with comfort care. He passed very peacefully and without pain at 12:49 am. Eric was one of my closest friends for over 20 years and I am grateful for the wonderful times we had together. I will miss his dry sense of humor, his 2-hour phone calls when he needed to laugh or vent and his all-around kindness. On behalf of Eric, he wanted everyone to know how much he loved and appreciated them.
RIP my buddy, until we meet again.

Billy Lee Stewart
“Billy the Kid”
June 3, 1936- February 28, 2024
Billy was born on June 3, 1936 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, an only child, to parents Robert Olan and Edna Earl Stewart. Growing up, Billy was active in sports and was a self-professed, “Jock.” Billy graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1954, and shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. In September 1954, at 18-years- old, the Marine Corps brought Billy from Tulsa to San Diego, where he attended boot camp at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD). After boot camp, Billy was based at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California. During his military service, Billy was awarded a Good Conduct Medal. After proudly serving our Country for four years, Billy was Honorably discharged from the Corps as a Sergeant.
As Billy enjoyed life in San Diego, he decided to remain in San Diego after he was released from active military duty. Billy initially worked in the banking industry, before settling into his lifelong profession as a car salesman. This was a profession that Billy thrived in for 50 years, consistently setting sales records, and repeatedly winning Salesman of the Year. Everyone who knew Billy would describe him as the epitome of an outgoing, extravert, he had a special way with people, and that allowed him to build strong bonds with his customers. Billy worked into his seventies, before finally retiring in 2011.
In his retired life, Billy spent his free time in ministry and devoted his life to spreading the word of God. For well over a decade, Billy was actively involved in the prison and jail ministry. He would regularly go into prisons and jails, and lead bible studies and give sermons. He also had a heart for San Diego’s transient population, and he volunteered his time serving the less fortunate at God’s Extended Hand Rescue Mission, in downtown San Diego. Billy loved sharing God’s word, and would often preach about how God changed his life when he became a Christian in April 1980. Billy often spoke about the first 44 years of his life before God transformed him, and he would often compare and contrast it to the man he became after he accepted Jesus to be his Lord and Savior. For years, Billy set up a table he called, “God’s Table” at Balboa Park, a ministry that found him serving 10-12 hour days every Friday and Saturday, where he handed out tracts and told strangers about his love for Jesus Christ. Billy made an impact in so many People’s lives.
Billy’s greatest Legacy is that he was a consummate, devoted, loving family man. His wife, children, and grandchildren were always Billy’s top priority. Billy married his wife, Robin Lee, on March 31, 1978, and they were together until his passing. Together, Billy and Robin had two children, Tiffany Lee, and Joshua Lee, in addition to Billy’s two eldest sons, Todd William, and Timothy Brooks from his first marriage. Billy loved his family. When he wasn’t working to provide a living, he was with his family. He loved attending his childrens’ sporting events, school performances, and built strong relationships with his childrens’ friends. No matter how old he was, Billy was always a kid at heart, hence the nickname, “Billy the Kid.” Well into his sixties, Billy loved playing sports, riding rollercoasters, and toilet papering houses with his children. Billy had a contagious laugh, and genuine smile. His positivity and love emanated through his palpable energy. Billy knew how to have fun and he always lived life to its fullest. Billy loved to laugh, dance, and sing. As his children grew older, and Billy became a grandfather, his love for his grandchildren was evident in the time that he spent with them, and the way he would smile every time he was lovingly called, “Papa.”
When Billy breathed his last breath, and had his final heartbeat at 2:58 a.m. on February 28, 2024, he left behind a multitude of grief-stricken family and friends, whose lives will never be the same without him. Billy is survived by his wife, Robin, his sons Todd, Timothy, and Joshua, his daughter Tiffany, his grandchildren Austin, Grant, Kayla, Lexie, Shiloh, and Presley, and daughters-in-law Rachel and Alyssa. In addition to his immediate family, Billy is survived by extended family and many close friends who will miss him dearly. Although Billy was not a wealthy man, what he leaves behind to those who loved him is worth far more than gold.
Funeral services and a celebration of life to honor Billy’s life and legacy will be held on either March 22nd or 23rd. Precise details will be given as soon as they are available.
To everyone who loved Billy, thank you. Please remember Billy every time you hear his favorite song, “Amazing Grace,” and always keep Billy’s legacy alive.

Stanley Vincent Nosel
January 21, 1949 - November 25, 2023
Stanley Vincent "Staniel The Maniel" Nosel was born to Anthony Dominick Nosel and Mariane Anna (née Borack) Nosel of 51 Lenox Avenue, Oyster Bay, Hicksville, New York on January 21, 1949, in the town of Glen Cove, Nassau County, New York, USA. He had 1 older brother, Anthony Nosel, Jr. His parents divorced early in his childhood, and his father remarried to a woman named Rosella. Rosella Nosel was an extremely jealous woman, and she did not allow the family to have contact with or pictures of Stan's mother, Mariane. Stan only saw his mother once after the divorce, when his older brother, Anthony, was standing outside their house on a hill and saw their mother down the street, looking up at the house. Both boys ran down the hill to greet her and had a brief meeting with her. Mariane died sometime during Stan's high school years, but he wasn't notified until later and had no knowledge of a funeral or where she was buried. Stan and his best friend, life partner, and soulmate, Princess, spent nearly 2 decades trying to track down his mother's final resting place but were unable to do so before Stan joined his mother in eternal rest.
Stan experienced 2 tours in Vietnam as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division, and he was awarded a Bronze Star. He rarely spoke of his military service except to those closest to him, and his advice to young people was, "Don't enlist!"
Stan moved to San Diego, California, where he spent the rest of his life. There, he was a dedicated and beloved employee at A.O. Reed for 46 years.
Stan met his best friend, life partner, and soulmate, Princess, in a chance meeting via the Strictly Platonic section of Craigslist, and they became inseparable, sharing adventures, both big and small, together for 17 years. Their shared love of activism fueled their charitable endeavors, and Stan's loved ones are encouraged to donate to Border Kindness in San Diego, California (borderkindness.org), First Families Now on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota (1stfamiliesnow.org), give gifts in-kind at Rachel's Women's Center in San Diego, California, or adopt a shelter pet as a new best friend.
Stan is survived by his partner-in-mischief and soulmate, Princess Mora and her 2 daughters, Ava and Violet, all of San Diego, California, his cousin, Betty Marrone of Glen Cove, New York, his sister-in-law, Jeanette Nosel, his nephews, Brian and Danny, and his niece, Pamela, all of Texas, and several great-nieces and great-nephews, of Texas, as well as so many dear friends, each of whom was uplifted by his positive disposition and endless capacity for nonjudgmental love and understanding. He will be forever missed, and his acts of love will echo through the universe for all time.

Martin R Ocegueda Sr.
05/15/1964 - 06/20/2023
Tax preparer by day, social butterfly by night, Martin was a stand-out, charming, odd bird who was truly a treasure to behold. Originator of the phrase, “can you fly with me?” Martin lived a full life of taking off with his loved ones. Whether it was grilling out in the back yard during a Lakers game, sharing stories to laugh over with his mom, siblings, family, and friends, or road-tripping across country while blasting his favorite tunes with his wife and kids, Martin was sure to soak up every bit of life’s joys with those he cherished. Martin had the rare ability of genuinely caring for others, making him impossible not to love. For Martin, life was a gift, and he was as ours. If he were still here, he’d say to his loved ones, “Take it easy. I’m waiting on the other side.” We love you, Martin, and can’t wait to see you again!
Bladen Ray Fuentes
09/15/1990 - 05/25/2023
Only Child to an Only Mother, Bladen could never be replaced by anyone, in my heart there was not enough room for another.
Love, if you have never experienced its embrace or find yourself incapable of its power, I feel the deepest sorrow for you. You have yet to truly live.
― Bladen Jaramillo’s Mom Leslie
“Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead….”
― Oscar Wilde
*Marvin Hernandez – Bladen, your big brother misses you beyond words, Blacito!!
The hardest part of all this is filling out the Order for Release of Remains.
My funny story about Bladen and my brother Olimpo. I told this story back in 2019 when Olimpo passed away.
When … Bladen was little
My son was very young and he came to me crying. He said Uncle Olimpo threw him out of HIS ROOM - which was located at the rear of the property. I stood up from my seat and said come with me! My son immediately STOPPED crying because he knew he just gave me a “command attack order”. Bladen was determined to spend time with his uncle Olimpo.
I BANGed like a cop on the door – Olimpo Opened it – Bladen pushed Olimpo’s legs aside and walks into his room with authority – before I could say anything.
– I hear
PINK FLOYD
Money
It's a crime
Share it fairly, ….& the sound of coins jingling from the song….
-I said, “He wants to be with you!”
OLIMPO said, “okay I’ll let him back in my room.”
I admired this kid’s determination & extra courage KNOWING his mom had his back. I later had to bribe him out of the room with candy.
When Bladen got older
Bladen loved to recite movie scripts - word for word, verbatim, so I have a fitting dialogue:
- A tearful Dorothy: it's going to be hard to say goodbye - Goodbye, Tinman. Oh, don't cry!
-The Tin Man in Tears: Now I know I've got a heart, 'cause it's breaking.
-From the movie The Wonderful Wizard of OZ
I feel as though I’m slowly walking down a very dark, grey, empty, narrow street - a black tunnel that has no end in sight, but I know that once I arrive, I will see the light that I have been waiting for.
WE WILL ALL SEE THE LIGHT.
I know that when it’s time – “my time” to leave this life my only child to his only mother will be there with open arms to say, “Mama come home I’ve been waiting for you my eternal life.”
Bladen, I your mom - I imagine you are at peace in your heart; I also imagine you with my little brother Olimpo Jaramillo by your side in the world that is called death. I also imagine you both see us here today praying over you. I close my eyes and you are not dead. I said to my brother Olimpo on his deathbed, fly little brother FLY! Bladen I now say to you Fly, FLY, FLY, AWAY!! Go with Uncle Olimpo!
There is no reason to cry…when our loved one is never going to feel the horrible pain that we do “here.”
I will sum it up for you all like this a story from the Holy Bible.
The Judgement of Solomon is a story from the Hebrew Bible in which Solomon ruled between two women who both claimed to be the mother of a child. Solomon ordered the baby to be cut in half, with each woman to receive one half. The first woman accepted the compromise as fair, but the second begged Solomon to give the baby to her rival, preferring the baby to live, even without her.
NOW!
I understand now that the real battle is with time (time is the other woman), life & death - I surrender to Mother Earth and to my God that has now claimed her son, and rightfully so.
Thank you Bladen for making me your mom. Thank you for being born “My Mijo”
Signed - An only mother’s broken heart for her only son Bladen Fuentes-Jaramillo. Leslie Jaramillo - Mom
Glenn Carlton Moberly
07/16/1952 - 06/05/2023
Glenn Carlton Moberly was born in Louisville, Kentucky to his parents Glenn Madison Moberly and Pina Aster Viola Rush on July 16, 1952. His first few years were spent in Kentucky and San Fransisco while his father served overseas during the Korean War. Despite living in California the majority of his life, he treasured the fond memories of his early childhood in KY, especially spending time with his family on the family farm. His love of the country life in Kentucky never left him.
The young Moberly family settled in Torrance, CA which is where Carl went to school and entered adulthood. He graduated from high school in 1970, and graduated with his Bachelors degree in Biology from California State College Dominguez Hills in 1974. He later earned another Bachelors in Electronic Engineering from Northrop University in 1978 while working at Hughes Aircraft. Carl stayed at Northrop to earn his Masters degree also in Electrical Engineering in 1989. Following in the footsteps of his father, Carl enjoyed a long and successful career in electrical engineering. His love of math, logic, problem solving, and creative thinking were often put to use when tutoring his children, family, and many others.
Carl moved to Hawthorne in December of 1978; shortly after he met the love of his life, Lori Nalani May, at church. They were engaged after three months of dating, and were married and sealed in the LDS Los Angeles Temple six months later on November 10, 1979. Carl and Lori are the proud parents of 8 children and 21 grandchildren.
Carl, Lori, and their family lived in Hawthorne, CA while he attended school and served as bishop of the Centinela 1st ward in the Inglewood Stake. In 1997, Carl, Lori, and their 8 children moved to San Diego, where they lived in their home for 26 years. Their home was full of children, noise, laughter, good food, soccer cleats, instruments, camping and high adventure gear, laundry, school books, and so much love. Carl and Lori were thrilled when their home was later filled with the sounds of their many grandchildren.
In later years, Carl and Lori enjoyed opportunities to travel, both for vacations and to visit their grown children and their families. He particularly loved when his grown children would come visit, and when he could play 3v3 basketball with his 5 sons. He loved being outdoors and relished in opportunities to travel, go fishing, visit national parks and monuments, and swim in the ocean.
Carl endeared himself to his family, friends, coworkers, and others with his humble attitude and pleasant demeanor. He was a quiet and gentle man who patiently and diligently went about his work with never a complaint or murmuring word. A favorite refrain of Carl to his children was an instruction to "raise the level of our discourse." His words and actions were reflective of his desire to honor and reverence his Savior Jesus Christ. He joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when he was 25 years old, and remained a faithful member for the rest of his life. Carl could often be found studying his scriptures in a quiet moment. He would tie in examples, anecdotes, and lessons from the scriptures in his day-to-day conversations with his loved ones. When walking out the front door, his children would often hear his gentle reminder, "Remember who you are." Carl lived his life as a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Throughout his life Carl put his wife, children, and parents' needs before his own. He was a loyal, loving, and devoted son, father, and husband. His family is grateful for the beautiful life he provided to his wife and children.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the LDS church meeting house at 11am. The location is at 15705 Pomerado Road, San Diego, CA 92128. Carl will be buried at the Inglewood Cemetery in Los Angeles.

Ayden Michael (“Ivy”) Wachs
November 2, 2005 - March 2, 2023
We are devastated to share that our precious son and brother, Ayden Michael Wachs, died on March 2, 2023. What we feared and fought desperately to avoid has now become reality and the anguish of our hearts is laid bare. Our beautiful child is gone at the age of 17 — his life stolen from him by a fentanyl poisoning.
Ayden was born on November 2, 2005 in San Diego, California, where he would live the rest of his life. Some of you may have known our beautiful child as Ayden. Some of you may have known them as Ivy. To honor and respect both their deeply lived strength of character and our personal understanding of our kid, we are using their chosen and given names here. It may be imperfect. But Ayden was OK with that. He could handle imperfection; it was hypocrisy that he wouldn’t suffer. They lived honestly and simply expected honesty in return.
Living up to the meaning of his full given name, which translates to ‘Fiery Warrior’, Ayden had a big, dynamic presence even as a very young child. His high energy, high volume, high silliness personality was impossible not to love, but it was always his huge heart that left the biggest impression. Ivy loved big and felt everything deeply. You never had to wonder how they felt because they were affectionate, quick with words of love, and always eager to seek a true connection. Even in the darkest moments, their love was overflowing and they would constantly find a moment to show or say how much they loved you.
Ayden was funny. He had a quick wit and a sharp, biting sense of humor. His urge to crack jokes, combined with his colorful vocabulary, often left us fighting back laughter, knowing we shouldn’t be encouraging it. But even if you managed to not break at the original joke or inappropriate word, you’d be taken in by Ayden’s unmistakable, infectious laugh - and you knew he delighted most in being able to get the ‘I shouldn’t be laughing at this’ laughs.
It’s difficult to try to capture the magic of Ivy’s personality without falling to cliches, but to know them was to know they were set apart from the rest - they were not like anybody else you will ever meet. And that makes this loss all the more crushing. Ayden never pretended to be anything other than himself, even if it meant walking in an unwelcoming world. He was honest to a fault, and would not moderate his point of view to make it palatable for others to accept. He could not tolerate unfairness in any context and would not stand silent in the face of injustice. He was deeply affected by the reality of how the marginalized and oppressed are treated in our world and especially in this country and he used his voice to advocate for those who were maligned, misunderstood, and mistreated. He knew well the torment and suffering that accompanies mental and emotional pain and he would not ignore the suffering of others.
It was not enough for Ayden to hope for change; he was determined to play a role in healing hearts and righting the wrongs he witnessed in the world. From a young age, Ayden was decisive about wanting to dedicate his life to helping others, ultimately hoping to become a psychiatrist or a counselor for addiction support. Ayden, who at times struggled so hard to see his own worth through his battle with mental health and addiction, never failed to see the value of others who are fighting the same diseases. His empathy and compassion was a gift to us all, as was his sensitivity, kindness, quick-witted humor, advocacy, and love.
We thought we would have more time. Though the last few years were at times anguishing and terrifying, we still could never have imagined we would have to bury our child. We know that was never a promise we were given, but rather a presumption we grasped at, holding it so tightly we didn’t even realize it was rapidly evaporating, disappearing day by day from our anxious and desperate grip. Ayden thought he would have more time. He wanted to live. He fought to stay alive. He had plans for the future and a vision of what his life would look like when he came through on the other side of this disease. He fought as only a Fiery Warrior could, and while some may carelessly say he “lost his battle with his disease”, we know nothing can be further from the truth. He won at every turn, and only his body gave in to a poison so cruelly hidden.
Our precious Ayden. We have loved you and will always love you with the unconditional love you so deserve. It was not the blind love of parents who had no choice, but the fierce, hard-fought love that scaled mountains, slayed dragons, and dared the legions of hell to wage war. There are no words that can adequately describe the joy you brought us. We are better for having known you and the love you so freely gave. We know that the courage you demonstrated as you fought a battle too big for most giants, never refusing help nor giving up, will give strength and inspiration to others who are fighting the same fight. And though your life has been ruthlessly cut short, the depth of your heart and your capacity to love will endure.
While he spent so much of his short life fighting a fight he did not ask for or deserve, Ayden was welcomed into eternity by a God he knew loved him beyond measure. Our bright and radiant Fiery Warrior has not simply abandoned this physical realm, but was scooped up into the arms of His loving Creator, fully healed, where he will forever be at peace. And in exchange for that, we will submit to this heart-wrenching loss and pain. Ayden will forever be healed, awaiting the day he is joined by his Dad and Mom, Robert and Lisa, and his big brother Corbyn. Being the extrovert he is, he wants all his family and friends to be there with him too. If you take comfort in the hope of eternal life and salvation, in honour of Ayden we encourage you to connect with a pastor or spiritual leader in your community who can guide and support you on your path. We longed for a day when Ayden would be free from his pain and we forever hoped he would live to feel that relief. Although we would give anything to have him back, we take comfort in knowing that he doesn’t have to fight anymore.
Ayden’s life will be honored at Newbreak Church in San Diego, CA (10791 Tierrasanta Blvd., San Diego, California) on Monday, March 13, 2023 at 10am; private interment to follow, traditional funeral attire. A viewing and visitation will be held on Sunday March 12, 2023 between 3pm and 6pm, during which time the family will also receive visitors for condolence calls. Please RSVP to denise@newbreak.org to receive details of the visitation services.
Ayden died on March 2, which was World Teen Mental Wellness Day. If you are struggling with mental health or addiction, Ayden would want you to know that you are worth saving. He would tell you that your life is worth fighting for. He would want you to get help and to seek comfort and refuge from the pain and anguish that your disease is inflicting on you. He would want you to know that he has a vision for your future, too, when you are on the other side of this. And we, Ayden’s family, want you to know that the people who know and love you do not hold your disease against you. We want you to know that you are not beyond the point of no return. To access resources for mental health and addiction support, we encourage you to visit the National Alliance for Mental Health (NAMI) for Kids, Teens, and Young Adults.

Darcee Ranker
02/18/1959 - 01/08/2023
Darcee (Sloan) Ranker’s life journey and fight against metastatic breast cancer ended on January 8, 2023. Darcee’s strength and perseverance during more than 20 years battling cancer were inspirational, even more so for her ability to find joy and wonder in the face of life’s challenges and uncertainties.
Darcee is survived by her husband Phil Ranker, daughter Lynsie Ranker and son-in-law James Blake, brother Rob Sloan and sister-in-law June Sloan, brother-in-law Steve Ranker and brother-in-law David Ranker and sister-in-law Ronda Ranker, and numerous family members who all loved her dearly. Darcee’s family included “friends who became her family,” stretching her love, and our love for her, from Great Bend to New Jersey, to Seattle, to San Diego, and everywhere in between.
Darcee was an amazing and special person. She was brilliant, funny, generous, and empathetic. For her husband Phil, she was a constant companion, conscious advisor, cheerleader, amazing mother to Lynsie, and partner in crime for nearly 50 years. She enjoyed playing mahjong and pitch with her friends, losing herself in a new book, going out for a "refreshing beverage" or afternoon snack just because, and walking on the beach with her family. She was also a formidable player of “words with friends” and a sports addict who loved cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas Jayhawks, and her favorite golfers. She was a fierce friend, steadfast confidant, and great listener for many. She lived for all the people that she loved. Everyone was blessed to have her kind smile, sweet laugh, and amazing hugs. We are thankful for all the great memories of Darcee and for the support she selflessly provided throughout our lives.
The world is less loving, less kind, less caring, and less gracious without Darcee in it. She will be greatly missed.
Darcee asked that there be no memorial service for her and in lieu of flowers, please consider donating in memory of Darcee Ranker in support of: the research of Dr. Sara Hurvitz made to the UCLA Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation, Attn: Melissa Brody, 9-623 Factor Bldg, Box 951780, Los Angeles, CA 90095-1780; (310) 206-0675; https://cancer.ucla.edu/donate; or, the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance in memory of Darcee Ranker, online at www.sdzwa.org/memorial or mailed to San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance, P.O.
